MORNING
The members of the Edu Team has completed the cataloguing the books we will be bringing to Sikkim, and here are the figures:
1) Beginners - 651 books 2) Intermediate - 500 books 3) Advance - 326 books 4) References - 33 books ... a total of 1510 books!! Thank you to all who contributed in any way to the mobile library project! :) And have a good rest, Edu Team, we appreciate your hard work and kind efforts in making this project happen! As part of the MOBILE LIBRARY PROJECT, a complimentary MOBILE LIBRARY CARD has been made by the PMU Team.
This will help to enforce the habit of reading, and allows the children to keep track of how frequently they read, as well as which books they have read before our next trip back. The library card is made like a card, but with a blank cover for the children to decorate, which will also act as their nametag to help the volunteer teachers recognise them in our short stay there. It comes in 3 designs: Snake, Giraffe & Fish, and they're all cut and ready to be filled up by the kids at Sangam Academy! We have collected over a thousands books from many kind souls!
Thank you for your kind contributions and support, especially to members of public who came all the way down to TBCC to deliver their donations, team members who spread the word via different media, team members who brought down hundreds of books at one shot, and the nice uncle who helped to carry a heavy bag of books when one of our members bags broke along the way! We are in the midst of sorting, cataloguing, and packing the sea of books. So stay tuned for further updates on the project. Have you dropped off your donations of English books for the Sikkimese children(3-12 yrs old) yet?
Closing date: 1 NOV @ TBCC- we will be sorting out these books . See you there! We've been planning to take the TRASH PROJECT to Sikkim this year, and have been designing the look of the bins to be placed at Sangam Academy for the kids to interact with, and be more conscious about protecting their environment.
Here are the posters, colours separated and ready to be screen-printed! HURRAY! Trash Project initiated by Mike HJ Chang, in collaboration with Sikkim Global Outreach. Seeing good progress from all members! Great Job Ladies! :)
