Something About Seeing invites viewers to look beyond the images and their substance in order to critique and discuss the production and process of the work. It features works by our very own Docu Team's photographer, Derrick Ng, as well as his classmate Wayne Lim, both recent graduates of Lasalle College of the Arts. Come on down to take a look!
Exhibition runs from 20 January – 14 February, 10am-6pm, open daily except Mondays and public holidays. Venue: TriSpace, B1-05, LASALLE. Admission: Free. Day 2 of the exhibition and walk-in demo/workshops began with a slow moving crowd of curious participants. One of the most popular booths was undoubtedly the Batik Dyeing booth, which Xiuting managed, along with other Fine Arts students like Ronald. People came by, created their very own pieces and left them to dry on a makeshift rack (made by stacking clear acrylic sheets on top of plastic containers) and came back to collect them later on in the day. The bookbinding and stamping booths received an audience that was cosy, and I'd say, the more daring of the lot, since most of them shy away from the table where crafters gathered to make books/envelopes at their own pace. We were happy to see Crystal, Sharon and Pinpin from Sikkim Go! 2011 at the LASALLE Open House, as well as Weijian from Team Vidyalay 2010, who came by to see our works as well as participate in the demo sessions. The Infinite Supply Of II Team would like to thank everyone for their support of the preview show and who contributed in one way or another in making it happen. We hope the participants in the walk-in workshops enjoyed their time with us as much as we did with them :)
Kickstart to The Infinite Supply Of II Preview Show and Workshops inspired by Borong-Polok!
More picture updates tomorrow and the day after, so stay tuned! Xiuting & Michelle from the PMU team were testing out the dip-dying after installing Argali Paper products in their place on pedestals on the far end of the gallery. They had brought back chemical dyes from Sikkim for workshops to be conducted in Singapore. It was a success, and looked lovelier in a minute A5 size, which can be easily folded and kept in your pocket for convenience.
So why don't you come on down to the LASALLE Open House tomorrow and on Saturday to try batik dyeing with Argali Paper? See you there! Mandy & Xiuting were on afternoon duty for the set up. This included installing the shelves, getting the vinyl sticker for our preview show onto the wall, hanging up the artworks. This could not have been done without LASALLE's trustee Fine Arts Workshop Technician, Wan, and the other Wan from ICAS Gallery, and Xiuting's classmate Zul. A Big Thank You!
