Sangam Academy
2010
This year's Educational team's main aims are:
1. To correct and strengthen the childrens' foundation in basic English and Mathematics
2. To teach the children about other countries & cultures
3. To bring awareness towards conserving their environment.
Classes were grouped by age and level of English proficiency. The older students had lessons on English grammar, Mathematics, and Science in a classroom setting. Meanwhile the younger ones were engaged in more more hands-on creative activities and songs.
Projects
Apart from these classes, there were also special projects planned such as:
1. Sangam Academy, Our Home
In this activity, the children were asked to create collages and drawings of their ideal home, which the team juxtaposed against the consequences of littering and not taking care of their environment. This activity ended with a mass school cleanup competition.
2. Argali Paper Bead Kids Workshop
The team, headed by the PMU team, taught the students how to create their very own handmade beads and bracelets using handmade paper from the Borong-Polok Paper Making Unit.
3. Games Day
Held on the last day of class, the kids indulged in some friendly competition & lots of laughter on Games Day, through passing messages, a game of Drunken Sailer, London Bridge, & making balloon hats.
