Earthquake (magnitude 6.9-highest since 1980's 6.1)struck in Sikkim, India and Nepal causing huge damage. Cell phone and landline services have come to a standstill in the entire Hills and adjoining areas. Managed to contact Mr Jagan by luck and he mentioned that they are okay, but some have lost their homes. Let us all pray that our friends in Sikkim will be safe.

The Education team has a plan to set up a school library to promote good reading habits to be formed when children are young. As voluntary teachers, we aim to stimulate children’s curiosity about books and to encourage the children to start loving the written word. One of the best ways to achieve this would be to set up a school library with a wide variety of information and fiction books.
The more students read, the faster their English will improve. To kick start good reading habits, students will be encouraged to keep a reading log of books read. This will help readers to keep reading and keep them thinking about their reading. We aim to bring up 300 of English books suitable for children between 3 to 12 years old. Please drop off your donations at these collection points: 1. Telok Blangah CC Front Desk. 2. LASALLE College of the Arts Fine Arts Faculty, box located in B1-01. 3. Nanyang Girls' High School, box located outside the Aesthetics Dept. Thank you in advance for your kind donations! :) |
