It seems by Day 2, the teachers were able to notice the trend- the kids start streaming in to sch about 9.30am.
They play at courtyard till 10am, kicking balls, playing with cutout aeroplanes & soap bubbles etc, and other children toys we brought from Singapore.
At 10am the Edu Team gathers them in front of the steps, where they lead them in morning exercises - Xuan Sheng does an army style stretching routine, while Angie/Lucas/Hugo lead in the 'hello' song and 'peel banana' song.
After morning exercises, the children go to their individual classes, where lessons will commence till 12.30pm or stretch till 1pm. (Then, the teachers go for shower/lunch while the kids hang around to play somemore. )
Classes will continue till 4pm, when the sun starts to set and it gets too cold for lessons. for the younger kids afternoon sessions tend to end with running games to keep them warm, like 1,2,3, 木头人!, and limbo rock. Angie realised that alot of them didnt know how to skip rope : )
The PMU ladies carried out their daily tasks at the unit, while the PMU Team continued making more beads to experiment with in ideas generation for Mr Jagan. Countless paper beads were being made, but they were still insufficient. Ashley made some really lovely beads that resembled bumblebees with wings, which inspired Mr Jagan to use them with his blank handmade journals. : )
The carpenter came today so YongChang and Michelle got down to preparing the wooden frames for the silkscreen mesh to be stretched over for the upcoming workshops. A total of 10 wooden frames were constructed today, with one sample being created and left to dry overnight.
Mr Jagan was fun to be with, and he leaves the unit often to pluck berries, flowers and twigs to show and share with us. Today, he found some Argali flowers and brought them to us. Before lunch, he leapt onto a tree from the side of a steep pathway and gathered some red Turmatae for us to try!
It was a cosy get together session after while waiting fordinner when Yongchang and Jackson crashed the PMU bunk. It was really great as the lights came one, and Mandy shared with the boys how blind contour drawings were being done over chit-chat with the rest of the ladies.
This evening, we also relocated Weixin to Sachita(Anand's sister's) home to rest after dinner, as we figured Sangam Academy proved too dusty for her health and allergies.
